Grantmaking Philosophy

Fund for Idaho is a grant-making foundation conceived with the intention of building a civil, just, and sustainable Idaho by promoting the flow of resources as a catalyst for change toward a more compassionate, environmentally sound and healthy society. Fund for Idaho places its grant-making decisions in the hands of a committee of activists and philanthropists. Thus, the grant-making process relies on the wisdom and experience of both the donor community AND those engaged in the on-the-ground work, in order to direct funding to organizations addressing root causes of problems.

Grantmaking Goals
Funds will be directed to those activities that support the following goals:
  1. Community-based and/or grassroots activists/advocates working to address systemic change and/or root causes of social or environmental ills.
  2. Providing forums for creative collaboration and capacity building between groups, leaders and community members.
  3. Actively engaging the people affected by a problem in the process of identifying and pursuing solutions.
